Welcome to Nicola Jane Cupcake Bouquets

Learn to pipe beautiful buttercream flowers, calmly and confidently

If you’re interested in learning how to pipe buttercream flowers onto cupcakes, I’ve created a growing collection of video tutorials that guide you through the process in a slow, relaxed, and easy-to-follow way.  You can watch and practice at your own pace, whenever it suits you, and return to any tutorial as many times as you need.

In each tutorial, I show you exactly which piping tips I’m using, suggest alternatives where possible, and demonstrate how changing the angle and pressure of the piping tip creates different petal shapes and effects. Everything is broken down clearly, so you can really see what’s happening as each flower takes shape.

Piping buttercream flowers isn’t just edible art—it’s mindful and calming. Many people find the process deeply relaxing, and there’s a wonderful sense of satisfaction when you step back and look at what you’ve created.

Teaching is, by far, my favourite part of this work. I love studying flowers and succulents, exploring how they can be recreated in buttercream, and then breaking each one down into the smallest details. I take time to experiment with different piping tips and techniques so that I can share what I’ve learned with you in a way that feels clear, achievable, and enjoyable.

All of my tutorials are filmed by me, with close-up angles so you can clearly see my hands, the piping tip, and how the buttercream is moving. I talk you through each flower step by step—including my more intermediate and advanced designs—so that whenever you feel inspired to try something new, you won’t feel lost.

Creating Cupcake Bouquets

Alongside the flower tutorials, I also teach you how to assemble your buttercream flower cupcakes into beautiful bouquets.

There are bouquet tutorials in a range of sizes, and in each one  I demonstrate how to wrap the bouquets neatly with tissue and cellophane, and how to finish them with a bow at the front for a polished, gift-ready look.

To make this part as straightforward as possible, I’ve included downloadable resources for members, including a bouquet placement template you can refer to while assembling your flowers. This makes spacing the cupcakes much easier and takes the guesswork out of arranging them neatly.

I’ve also created a packaging guide sharing the box sizes I use when presenting bouquets to customers. It’s there to help you feel confident not just in piping the flowers, but in finishing and presenting your work beautifully.

Buttercream Succulents

The tutorial library also includes buttercream succulents, which are particularly popular as gifts and very forgiving to pipe. Because succulents naturally vary in shape and colour, they’re a relaxed and enjoyable way to practice control and texture while creating something that always looks unique.

If you’d like to get a feel for my teaching style first, you’re very welcome to visit my YouTube channel, where I share a selection of free tutorials and helpful tips about working with buttercream, from colouring to how to change the consistency for beautiful, smooth petals. If you enjoy learning that way, I’d love you to come back and explore the full library here.

Tutorial Bundles

All of these flowers are included in the membership, but if you’d prefer a one-time bundle, these are the beginner flowers I’ve chosen for you.

I selected these designs because they use a variety of piping tips and angles, helping you create petals of different shapes and sizes. The flowers are simple, large, and easy to follow, making them perfect for beginners.

By mastering these flowers, you’ll build the fundamental skills and confidence you need to move on to more intricate and detailed designs later. They’re a gentle, rewarding way to start your buttercream journey—and you’ll see real progress with every petal you pipe.

What You Can Create

Many members start by learning individual flowers, and before long they are creating beautiful cupcake bouquets like these.

Each tutorial breaks the flowers down step by step so that you can build your skills gradually and enjoy the process as you go.

These designs are all achievable by beginners who follow the tutorials at their own pace.

Everyone Starts Somewhere

When I first picked up a piping bag, my flowers looked nothing like they do today — and that’s completely normal.

Like any creative skill, piping buttercream flowers takes a little practice and patience. At the beginning you’re learning how the buttercream feels, how the piping tips move, and how small changes in angle create different petals.

This collage shows one of my very first bouquets next to a more recent design. The difference simply comes from practice, curiosity, and enjoying the process along the way.

So if you’re just starting out, please don’t worry about perfection. Take your time, enjoy learning each flower, and before long you’ll be creating beautiful bouquets of your own.
